Feature List of the 3DS Browser

I've been digging into the features of the Nintendo 3DS browser today and have a list of what I have discovered so far.

Acid Tests
Acid3: 90%
Acid2: A few colors misplaced
Acid1: Passes

CSS
border-radius
2d transformations
NO text-shadow

HTML5
Canvas 2d-context
NO audio
NO video
NO geolocation
NO Web Sockets
NO WebSQL

JavaScript
A-button, D-Pad input
AJAX
NO mousemove (meaning no painting)

Extra
MPO images viewed as 2D thumbnails and 3D stand-alones
MPO uploads from SD Card
MPO downloads to SD card


I will continue digging...

UPDATE
There is support for mousemove and canvas drawing. I was unable to initially get the DSiPaint app working on my 3DS until I realized that the canvas was just not refreshing. By changing any CSS style on the canvas, it will force a refresh, and everything works!

@update- Meaning, HTML Canvas will work, also meaning... Painting on 3DSPaint!

Damnit...excuse my language...but why didn't Nintendo make room for Flash, sound, etc.? The 3DS Browser is almost exactly like the DSi Browser. Nintendo should've made things different during the production of the Browser.

The dsi browser almost never got updated...Mostly performance enchancement... Just saying...

@drwho The main complaint is that ACCESS left basic features out of its browser that were in the DSi's browser.
Now, hopefully ACCESS will be kind and update it promptly.

Nintendo doesn't want us to use the browser other than for the Basic, they are forcing the costumers use the Features on the 3DS and not customizable stuff. Like 3DS Made websites? Yeah...

No text-shadow could mean my eyes will last me another year considering all the noobs with blue-on-purple text. -.-

Furthermore, while the Browser, may fail, remember... Now, this might shock some of you, but... IT'S A HANDHELD GAMING SYSTEM. All of you are too focused on the Browser. It'll probably be updated, or all-together trashed and replaced. Be happy, patient, and focus on the gaming portion of your $250 investment. -.-

Okay, good. And I've also been testing the browser features and yea the AJAX is extremely well put. It has this fading transition that I like.

*sigh* the only reason I wanted the 3DS was for the improved graphics and internet... And by the looks of things, they have done worse on the browser than with the DSi. [sarcasm] Nice job Nintendo. [/sarcasm]

Interesting, I will look into this as well. Hopefully Nintendo and Netfront will listen to us and include more HTML 5 features.

I'm still disappointed that they lack so much as a mobile browser. We have so many devices that support HTML 5.

We can see if 3DS browser supports it.

Me and HB were talking yesterday about maybe working around the mouseover lack.

There is still a way to paint, but just not the same way. There should be an onDrag event.

I'll try to do some experiments, as well as HB, of course, to make painting possible.

@snaker No, incorrect. The 3DS web browser lacks several features because ACCESS sucks at making good browsers. I mean, they did make the slow as molasses PSP browser.

the 3ds does not have alot of features cuz they expect the pplz to be only playing the game cuz off the 3Demention stuff

Hah, it'd be like the Animal Crossing paint set, at the Tailor's, Takis. You'd need a grid-based canvas.

I'm glad I still have DSi. No Paint, no thanks.

Netfront being a mobile browser to begin with, I'm not surprised it doesn't support the likes of mousemove.

Opera is still superior in my view.
