When I first played the original Code Lyoko game, I loved it. not only did it have great 3D environments, a diverse lineup of characters with customizable abilities, a pretty high difficultly level and cutscenes taken directly from the TV show. The game was probably one of the best TV Show to DS games released.
A few years later, I was strolling around Fry's Electronics (Amazing store with really good prices for any game) and saw a sequel, Fall of Xana, which I assumed covered the final chapters of my favorite childhood TV show.
It was on sale for $2.... not joking....
And...
It wasn't worth those two dollars.
They took everything the first game had, and completely threw it out the windows.
Gone were 3D environments with amazing graphics and good story lines utilizing both of the worlds.
Instead, the game consisted of an EXTEMELY lackluster RPG with a difficultly level higher than any old school Legend Of Zelda game.
Frankly the game mechanics made it impossible to even beat a single level. You had very little health, almost no power ups, and monsters had huge HP bars and ridiculously overpowered attacks.
Combine this with horrible 2D sprites that have only two different frames in a 2.5D pixelated background that is extremely boring and repetitive and you have one of the most worthless games ever made for the DS.
While the RPG fights did have 3D graphics, they were really bad, and worse than N64 quality...on the DS.
The game doesn't even do a decent job of explaining what in the world is going on. The regular world sections are terribly boring and nearly impossible with a first person view that doesn't give you the option to move around.
Altogether, this is the EPITOME of crappy games made for the DS, and earns it's well deserved rating of...
1/10
If you see this game on sale for $2 at some discount electronics store, don't buy it. Not only is it a bad game, but you've wasted two perfectly good dollars that could go towards something more worthwhile...say... a pack of Five Gum, or maybe some tick tacks.
This game ruined the TV show, and it's previous title, which I rate very high in the world of DS games (right up there with 358 Days, Partners in Time, Phantom HourGlass and New Super Mario Brothers)
Code Lyoko is pretty good show. The thing where they become human-like looking like they're in the Lyoko world or something in the real world isn't that good, if you know what I mean
