This is the second installment of my DS Legends Series. I will be reviewing what I consider to be the top ten DS games released.
Up second, is Mario and Luigi, Partners in Time.
When I first played Partners in Time, I fel in love with the story, gameplay, and music.
The story of PiT involves Princess Peach attempting to travel back in time to visit the Mushroom Kingdom.
The visit goes wrong however, when an alien race sets their eyes on the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and Luigi are eventually forced to travel back in time, where they team up to take down the aliens.
While many roll their eyes at the story, the humor resulting from the various exploits of the double duo of Bros. makes up for the slightly cliqué story.
What really made this game however was the very diverse RPG style the game had.
You fight using 4 characters at once, with the two baby characters piggyback riding their larger counterparts.
As well as a improved battle menu from SuperStar Saga, the battles also included special items which could be used as attacks; a muchbetter system than the Bros. Points.
Also, more RPG strategy could be done as well, using four characters, all of which possess special abilities needs to pass various challenges in the game.
The bosses, in my opinion, are what make PiT so great. All of the bosses have a relatively high difficulty levels, and attacks that produce all kids of nasty effects. While you may be a bit frustrated at first, the level of difficulty is just right, so that you can adapt after a few battle attempts.
I will say that the final boss(es) are some of the hardest fights in any Nintendo RPG to date. Be prepared to do A LOT of battling.
The last main part of PiT is the awesome soundtrack. Nintendo really did a great job creating a soundtrack that correctly fit each battle just right. The final, final battle music was particularly epic.
