I told everyone I would reveal information on a new section of 3DSPaint.com this weekend. Since I live in the United States where we have a 3-day weekend, I still have an hour left in the deadline!
This new app is called TMJ Tiler. It is one of many upcoming tools to help the development team for The Mystical Journey to fully create content on a Nintendo 3DS. Other content will be TMJ Tilemapper (for creating levels from tiles) and TMJ Scripter (for creating cinema sequences). Aside from the game engine itself, almost all the game will be designed with nothing but a Nintendo 3DS!
Many of the features that will be in the final TMJ Tiler will also find their way into the 3DSPaint app. Some of the major differences between the DSiPaint/WiiPaint apps and this one are the new RGB color picker (instead of the color squares), the new Randomize Mode (which slightly varies drawing colors), and the new filters.
This special preview of TMJ Tiler (saving disabled) has a fraction of the features that will be in the final version. The main drawing area is a zoomed tile (with the actual size to the right). To the far right are the red, green, blue, and black, color pickers. By clicking the RGB pickers in any order, the color adjusts. The black picker switches to grayscale. Below the color pickers are the button to turn on and off Randomize Mode and view the current color. Between the color pickers and the drawing canvas are a few of the filters: Smooth, Flood, and Negate. Upcoming filers are Mirror, Flip, Rotate left, Rotate right, Contrast, Edge enhance, Darken, Lighten, Grayscale, and probably several others. There will also be Undo, Redo, and a Dropper. In addition to Save, the much requested Load option is coming. (For those who have actually read this far, it is coming to DSiPaint and WiiPaint, too.)
Since most of you are just checking out this blog for the link, here you go: http://3dspaint.com/tmj/tmj_tiler.php. Be aware that this will probably crash your Nintendo DSi browser since it was meant for the faster speed of the Nintendo 3DS Internet Browser.
Amazing work Hull! This is almost like, "Draw to life" But Takis is right. You should find a way where we can use the D-pad. Works great for me. I don't know about the other users though? Seems like you took awhile on this. Great work HullBreach! I can always count on you!
Teehee. My dsi broke.
Also, the browser sometimes crashes while booting up on my DSi. I think it's the memory.
The last time I turned it on, it said OOOOFEFE which means "damaged system bootfile".
