Hopefully most of you know what ignorance means. It comes in all shapes, forms and sizes. There's all types of different names for it; racism, sexism, pre-judging, stupidity...you get it. Right now I'm talking about the pre-judging type.
I'm not talking about pre-judging a bottle of juice by the label before you buy it, I'm talking doing that with people.
For instance, I remember I was in a chatroom once and someone said, "Why are you talking like a black girl?", or something along those lines. They said that because the person used text talk and/or bad grammar. I understord, but that hurt me because that's what I am...a black girl. I'm not the type of stupid person who gets offended as soon as anyone says "black" or mentions my race or any other race. But do I type like that? No.
Now, that isn't exactly pre-judging but it's close and apart of the ignorance family.
Remember the saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover"? Well, live by it. You don't know a person until you've actually talked to them and gotten to know them, so do that. It can even be the same with famous people, you should look up an actress, band or older musician before you say, "She's trashy", "They suck" or "I'm too young to listen to their music". Your opinions may change.
Sometimes you can't really assume before you know...
