Hello everyone! We are are coming up to a sad date in July. Why is this date sad you ask?

It will be the one year aniversary of the removal of:

GASM:
Otherwise known as:

The Great American Scream Machine

What? What else did you think this blog would be about? Hmmm?

Anyway...

The Great American Scream Machine was one of three Mega Loopers created by famous coaster design firm ARROW DYNAMICS.

Shockwave at Six Flags St. Louis was the first (1992), and was removed in 2002.

GASM at Six Flags Great America was the second (1993) and was suddenly removed in July of 2010.

The only remaining Mega Looper is VIPER at Six FlagsMagic Mountain.

GASM was a towering ride, standing over 150 feet tall, and sent rider through six heart-pounding manuevers:

-Three 100 ft. tall vertical loops,

-A Butterfly (track inverts twice while turning the oposite direction),

-And two corkscrews


For it's time, this ride was a titan.

To this day, they are still some of the largest coasters ever built.

Sadly, Arrow Dynamics went bankrupt in 2002 due to over inversting in a 4D coaster prototype known as X.

After this, Arrow coaster began to disappear, and more and more are closing every year.

GASM is one of the greatest achievements of Arrow Dynamics in it's heyday.

Let it's magnificent structure be remembered forever.
