DESCRIPTION: The average weight of the Mau is approximately 5-11 Lbs (2-4 Kg) With a body that's typically slender & muscular. They're thought to be one of the descending breeds of the modern day domestic cat breeds. Their anatomical, metabolic, & behavioral differences are quite unique, & noticeably sets them apart from your average domestic cat. The diferences could be considered proof of their antiquety, or it could, perhaps just be uniqueness, simply setting them apart from your average cat. They are small to edium sized cats, with short hair & they ate one of the few naturally spotted breds (as previously stated). Unlike the Ocicat or the Bengal, both of which gained spots through outcrossing (the Bengal being a result of the outcross of a wildcat & a domestic cat.) Not only is their hair spotted, but if you were to shave a Mau, you'd find spotted skin also. You'll also find a "scarab beetle" or "M" marking on the Mau's forehead. Cat's with the "M" are usually from the United States. The cat has a medium-length, muscular body with back legs that are longer then those in the front, this makes tge cat appear as if it's standing on tiptoe when it's upright. They're the fastest of the domestic cat's with speeds clocked at over 36 MPH (58 Km/h)
