Sometimes, we forget our vows to be defiant. We gradually give way to our situations, give in to our promises we made ourselves. This is what Scarlet found herself doing.
She found a friend in Cheyenne Hare, something she had never truly had. There was still a small barrier; she was a criminal, Cheyenne was a mercenary. It was to be expected. Cheyenne told her repeatedly they were in need of the vital information Scarlet had, but Scarlet would get silent and look away.
One day, after a hot argument with Marcus, Cheyenne decided now was the time to get the knowledge they needed; she had to pursuade Scarlet to tell her everything she knew.
"Scarlet, I need to talk to you!"
Cheyenne saw the vixen pass by her door with a stack if linens. Scarlet backed up and walked into Cheyenne's room. She knew what was coming.
"Yes?" Scarlet sat down on the rabbit's bed and gulped uneasily.
"Scarlet, I need to know. Today. Now. This minute. I need you to tell me."
The vixen sensed a firmness; an imovable, serious tone to Cheyenne's voice. Scarlet knew if she didn't tell her now, there were people who cared a lot less then Cheyenne did that had ways of getting people to talk. Cheyenne held Scarlet's paws and looked her in the eyes. Scarlet felt her throat tighten. She couldn't! She just couldn't-
"YOU HAVE TO PROMISE NOT TO TELL ANYONE ELSE!"
The vixen suddenly blurted out. It was a deseprate request, but the only way to make this less difficult.
Cheyenne bit her lip. It was impossible to keep it a secret; the rest of the team and the CM needed to know! But... she was closer to knowing then ever before...
"I promise, Scarlet. I won't tell anyone."
