Welcome to the 4th issue of Your Computer and You.
Todays Issue: The MRT and Windows Defender
I. What is the MRT, a new division of the FBI?
No. The MRT (Or Malicious Removal Tool) Was Microsofts attempt to fight back. It Doesn't come Pre-installed, but its free, and pretty simple to use.
II. Ok, then Why do I need an Antivirus then?
The Problem with the MRT is, it isn't very good. It didn't scan very well, when it did it took FOREVER, and was blocked by most viruses anyway.
It was Phased out after SP2.
I. (Revisited) Well, Does Windows Defender Get the Job done right?
Well, KINDA. It was based of MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials), and got better scan times, better detection rates, but still couldn't live up to its name of "Windows Defender" Because lets face it, It didn't Defend Windows at All.
III. Do you see it working in the future?
Infact, I see Windows 8 (Already in progress Folks) Being more like a Mac in the Sence of LESS viruses, (Yes Macs, you got 'em too) and Windows Defender kicking butt.
If you want more information on Windows Defender, or just want to talk Windows, shoot me a friend request, I'd Love to hear from you!
