Marcus stood shock still, the words spoken to him still sinking in. Scarlet's body... ... ... ...but she was... ... ...gone?... ...Invaded by Morbids...
"She's dead?" The words were spoken in a barely audible whisper. Marcus looked up, his throat tightening.
"Hm, yes... that's a good way to put it."
The Morbid body suddenly hit Marcus under the chin, and in a split-second he was on the ground.
"Dead...Gone..." the words plagued his soul. When someone was dead, you couldn't get them back. They were non-existent, forever on.
He didn't want to get up. He wanted to die. Living with the knowlegde that Scarlet's death was HIS fault was unbearable. He could of put more effort into finding the intruder, which he strongly suspected now was a Morbid body. The one he loved was dead. Yes! HE LOVED HER! But he was to stupid and self-centered to realize it until it was to late.
He looked helplessly up at the Morbid body, that gloatingly towered over him. He couldn't stop staring at those horrid eyes. Red and cracked, bulging purple viens, protruding nastily from the sockets...
Suddenly, he saw them change. He could of sworn he saw a glimmer, a hint, a transparent SHADOW of blue behind them... blue... blue...
LIKE SCARLET'S.
She was gone, but he would avenge her. He wouldn't be defeated. He jumped up and charged at the Morbid body. It didn't move, just smiled a twisted, mutilated smile until Marcus was 2 yards away, then it raised it's hand up. The vulpine suddenly felt like he hit an invisable brick wall, and fell with a cry of pain to the ground once more.
The Morbid body raised both hands and waved them before making both palms face the hurt fox. It laughed as Marcus tried to rise, but could do nothing. The Morbid body had an invisible force shield pinning Marcus
to the ground. It cackled as the vulpine struggled uselessly to move.
"Marcus McCloud, I'm going to kill you. But not before I make you suffer."
