The beagle, everyone recognizes these popular dogs. But, how much do you know about them?
DESCRIPTION The breed is considered a medium-sized dog & is registered in the hound group. They have a dark nose at birth, but as the dog gets older & grows out of puppy-hood, the nose turns brown-pink. They are sturdy & compact with a height of 13-16 in. (35-40 cm) & a weight of 18-30 lb (8-14 kg). They have fairly large hazel, or dark brown eyes & a short, dense coat that is weather proof & can be any color recognized as a hound color, except the color liver.
PERSONALITY •Long & Frequent off-leash walks are needed in a secure, fenced area.
•Distractable & Rarely come when called.
•Peaceful with other pets & friendly with people.
•Easy to groom, but do shed a lot & do have a dog smell.
•Love to explore & they wil chase ANYTHING!
•Are adept at climbing & digging & tend to wander. Never leave outside unattended.
•Obedience training is essential.
•Get destructive if they're bored or not exercised enough.
•Are hard to house-break.
•Are NOT to be trusted off-leash when not in a secure, fenced area.
•Are manipulative & stubborn.
•Can climb chain-link fences.
