Here he was. Pinned like a helpless pup to the cold, hard ground by a Morbid body. An invisable force stopping him from defending himself against the touture the Morbid body had said was coming. It stood triumphantly off to one side of Marcus' weak body, one hand still facing him, holding the sheild. The other hand was hanging loose to one side.
"I know you loved her."
Marcus winced.
"I took her soul when she was weak. Weak from rejection. REJECTION FROM YOOOOOOOU..."
It hissed the words cruelly. Marcus barred his fangs.
"She gave you her heart. She though you would give her the love she never had. WRONG."
Marcus shut his eyes.
"Look at this, Marcus McCloud...LOOK!!!"
The shield roughly forced Marcus' head to one side. He stared at a hologram like picture that was projecting in the room.
A picture of Scarlet. She was...crying? She looked so...forlorn...forgotten...alone...forsaken...used...weak...hopeless...
"I'm so sorry Scarlet."
A tear slowely slid down Marcus' bloody cheek as he whispered the words.
Suddenly, the force shield broke and the Morbid body staggered backwards. A choked voice, not the one the Morbid had been using, spoke from the mouth.
"Marcus-"
It was abruptly cut off by a enraged scream from the Morbids in the body. Now it seemed as if a million thudering, spine-tingling voices were coming from the same mouth.
"STOP IT!! STOOOOOP IIIIT!!!!!"
Marcus bounded up and stared wide-eyed at the body. That voice was Scarlet's. She was...
"Alive," Marcus said softly. His voice grew louder. "You liar! She's not dead!!" The vulpine was screaming with blood-mingled tears streaming down his face. "YOU DECIVED ME!! SHE'S STILL ALVE!! SHE'S STILL THERE!!!!"
The Morbid body's glowing eyes seared through Marcus'.
"SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE!!" It calmed down a little and said,"Huh, well, she'll be gone soon enough. She can't hold on much longer."
Marcus' adrenaline seemed to burst out of his body. Scarlet was still alive. He could still save her.
