The Boxer which is classified as a large dog requires little grooming, but requires a lot of food. They make great guard dogs, & in fact their appearence alone gives the impression of an aggressive dog. But, given an educated, experienced owner, they make loyal, affectionate family pets.
APPEARENCE These dogs have upturned noses & slightly wrinkled faces, which is what imainly identifies them. Other characteristics of these dogs are a well-muscled, big-boned, squarely-built body with a close fitting short coat in colors fawn or brindle (brown & black stripes). White markings are permissable on the feet, chest, & face. Theirmuzzle is blunt & they have large jaws with a dark mask. The ears, which in some countries are cropped, are triangular & set wide apart atop the head & when they aren't cropped, they're raised when the dog is alert. The tail is set & carried high & is usually docked. These dogs are quite large with a height of 21-25 in (53-64 cm, & a weight of 55-70 lb. (25-33 kg) & they need a lot of exercise.
