Ohai Derr.
So i have like a million GBA games.
Oh em gee i remember when those were the only games i would get, DSi wasn't out yet xD
Spyro used to be my favorite GBA character.
Anywway, Spyro season of flame has a very long time line.
Yes, the game doesn't last for 5 minutes, or hours. or days.
Maybe weeks if you got bored of it and came back.
Rhynocs are taking over the lands again! (I call the stages, not lands, stages.)
And Spyro needs to collect all 1000 fireflies, and all 100000 gems.
Gems and fireflies are collected in different levels.
To complete a whole level, you need to collect all gems and fireflies.
There is round about 300/400 gems in each level. And about 5 or 6 faries.
You earn the fireflies by completing tasks in each level.
The Characters are usually victims of fireflies that seem to "OH MY GOD THAT FIREFLY BURNT A HOLE IN MY POCKET" and then spyro ignores them, takes the firefly and fly's off.
There is round about 21 levels in all lands together, and all of them are locked.
To unlock them, simply collect fireflies.
But greedyguts "Moneybags" cant be bothered to walk over to a gem right next to him. Nooo, he needs to "borrow" like 234 gems off of spyro! :0
And then you can enter his level. Usually playing as this hoppy thing. Called sheila.
But this hoppy thing doesn't fly, Oh no, it bounces on stuff.
Usually flowerpots, or things that need to be unfrozen, frozen, melted and taken down.
These levels take less time than any other spyro and some monkeys level.
(I've forgotton their names)
The monkey level's for me, are the hardest of all. The monkeys name is agent9, which is kind of weird, for a monkey, but its an agent, so i guess that alright.
This takes alot longer to gather the gems, and watching out for all the rhynocs coming out of doors, or walking out of the middle of no-where because they attack you! With hockey sticks! Well thats what i call them.
You only get 3 lives in these, than you die, and use up one of spyro's lives. I guess thats good.
But these are the hardest levels in my opinion.
While trying to travel to another land, you get ambushed by more rhynocs.
The first one shoots ice crystals across the lava.
That. Makes. No. Sense. So while the ice crystals roll across LAVA and DONT MELT, you need to pick the crystal up, and throw it back at that monster, the monster freezes and you attack it.
After 4 or 5 hits, you are allowed through, and i think you have the ability to smash through boulders.
Which is those heavy rocks you try to break through, but you can't because Spyro is weak and hasn't been working out.
There is 3 lands altogether, Sunny plains, Celestial Plains (guess where i got my alt Celistica from) and Starry Plains.
The boss of Sunny plains is Crush, the one that shoots ice crystals that dont melt in lava. In Celestial plains, Gulp is the boss of that ambush, and shoots these random rockets at spyro, and they magically follow you everywhere.
And in Starry Plains is Ripto's Volcano, which is the boss of that ambush.
I love the scene's of every level, it really amuses me, and some of the levels, like Winter Mesa, Watertopia, Gypsy Road and Candy lane are quite fun to play.
All the levels get more cool after you've defeated the boss in Sunny Plains.
The levels there are boring.
After you have completed all the levels, if you havent got all 1000 fairys, and 10000 gems, they send you back through the game, all portals free and open, to collect the ones you need. Then the game ends and you get freetime.
Dragon Droughts and a firefly quest is unlocked during game play.
Graphics - I rate the graphics about an 6/10, this is the GBA, the graphics are never perfect. But the places.. i love them!
Gameplay - Its a 8/10 and its neither a short game, or a extremely boring long game. Its in the middle.
Theres so much to do :0
Including unlocking Fire breath, and using electricity, super fire and super ice breath for 30 seconds to help accomplish levels. This is best by far GBA game, my opinion.
Overall i rate this a 8/10. Best GBA game i've played
This game is a sequel to: Spyro : Season of Ice, which is what i will be reviewing next.
