Solid White Cats & kittens are, without a doubt among the most popular & most adorable in the feline family. Which is why I felt compelled to add them to the list. (Also, my mother begged me to, she has a soft spot for them.) So here's a profile on solid white cats.
SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS •At least 1 of the 2 parents must be solid white for a solid white kitten.
•There are no white breeds of cat, but there are cat breeds that acknowledge sold white as a standard color, including: Angora, American Shorthair, Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest, Oriemtal Longhair, Persian, & Siberian. (Persian's & Angora's are best known).
•Cat's with solid white fur & 2 blue eyes are more prone to congenital deafness( deafness that's present at birth) then a green, or yellow-eyed cat. But there are always exceptions. Green-Eyed &Yellow-Eyed solid white deaf cats have been reported.
•Solid white cats are very commonly born with 'odd eyes' or bi-colored eyes. They are almost always Blue in 1 eye & yellow/green in the other.
•Many odd-eyed solid white cats are deaf on the blue side. But, again there are always exceptions.
•Mixed-Breed solid white cats (ex: half angora, half persian) are MORE prone to deafness then Pure-Breeds.
•Vision & Skin problems are also common-place for solid white cats.
PERSONALITY •Timid, Calm & Quiet
•Streetwise & friendly
•Likes attention & affection.
•Likes cuddling
•In deaf cats, irritability & clinginess can be an issue.
