A Yorkshire Terrier fully groomed for the show ring can be a stunning appearance. These dogs are beautiful, lively, & quite the character. But, they do take quite a bit of work to keep their beauty.
DESCRIPTION They have a long, silky coat, which is parted along the back & hangs evenly straight down the side of the body. All Yorkies are born 1 solid color, & gain their "Yorkie" color as time progress. The color in this dog is essential, & they should be dark-steel, NOT silver-blue, & all tan hair should be darker at the roots then at the middle, & lighter even at the tips. To be kept beautiful, & silky, their coat should be brushed or combed daily. The tail is docked (illegal in some countries) at medium-length & held high. Their heads are small & their ears are v-shaped. Their body is compact. They are a toy breed, not weighing more then 7 lb (3.2 kg) & standing at a height of 8-9 inches (20-23 cm). Thus, they are, as you see, quite small in size.
