I sat up sadly in bed as my alarm was beeping like a mad man. I had my long shower as usual everyday and ran downstairs for my breakfast. I slowly ate and checked the time; It was 8:55, I was almost late for school! I hurried my pace and brushed my teeth. I hoped on my bike and went full speed towards school. I felt the wind blowing through my hair and the scenery a blur around me. Eventually I felt a quick sting on my right leg. Just hit a bug. I thought. Eventually I reached the school just as the screaming bell went off. A flood of kids were flowing in the Hawkins Classic school. I saw my best friend Majer. He was blind in his left eye and a ginger. He was wearing the usual boys uniform…a red polo shirt and navy blue pants.
In class my other friend Bob, who’s legs are crippled and needed an electric wheelchair to move, who’s bright green eyes were scanning the class room just as they did every day with his short blonde hair a mess because he’s no able to reach the top of his head his mom is too lazy to it herself so she doesn’t do it anyway. Bob was crippled from a huge car accident with a semi-truck. The class will occasionally make fun of him for it but all he’s able to do is say two words at a time because of the wreck.
“H-how are……….you to-today……….N-nathan” Bob whispered in class.
“I’m fine, what about you?”I said
“I…I’m good……..what about……..you M-Majer……and L-Lilly”
Lilly was a flirty blonde girl who was wearing the girls uniform (obviously) of a blue polo and a khaki skirt/pants.
“I’m fine” Lilly whispered, “And you Majer?”
“Will you guys shut up! You’ll get us all in trouble.” Majer somewhat shouted.
After a while of talking from your annoying teacher Mr. Weithenburg, the final bell for class rang. In front of the school we all decided to go for a long walk tomorow toward the long empty cold barrens. Good thing it was Friday.
At home I got all of my stuff ready such as a good pair of shoes (my best ones), a sweater thinking it would be a nice cold day again as usual here in Whisper Valley, and a good pair of pants for more warmth just in case. I met Lilly, Majer, and Bob near where we had discussed before, inside the old, abandoned library. Inside was filled with plenty of dust and no books that have never been read before. Even though we have been here for at least 10 years considering we all met when we were 5, 6, and 4… I met them at 5. “Well here we are, at the place where we met 10, the place where we meet when we have nothing else to do but wander around in our front yard eating out own grass that dogs most likely took a crap on or just play games like that nerd across the street who mows his carpet for no apparent reason…it grows maybe…I’m not sure but let’s make this quick and make a fast check if we have everything we might need…first with Majer. Do you have a good jacket or that crappy kind from the horrible store that hates their customers?”
“Yes I have the better kind…it has a giant waffle on it!”
“That’s great…I think…what about you Lilly?” no answer “Lilly?”
Eventually she replied, “Hm? Oh right yes I have nice warm clothes…im actually sweating in here.”
“Bob what about you?” I said
“I h-have…the b-best…clothes…I even…have my…crutches j-just…incase”
“All right I think we’re ready, let’s roll!” I shout
A bout a few hours in Lilly suggests that we turn back and head home but everyone wanted to keep going, so we did unfortunately for us…we didn’t know what we had in store for us up a head . We kept walking anyway unknowingly and stupidly because no one checked the weather before we left. As we walked we noticed a bit of clouds over head which we found was strange because it hasn’t rained in weeks.
The clouds grew bigger and bigger and it began to snow. We hadn’t packed enough cloths to survive the snowy plain considering we walked nearly 7 miles, we turn back and can’t find the town. The snow began to get thicker and thicker the snow was nearly to my knees in a matter of minutes and Bob had to resort to his crutches because the snow was too deep.
We walked for 5 hours strait, nearly over half the time it was to get to where we were. We decided to stop and wait it out and many of Bob’s and Majer’s fingers were beginning to turn blue and it slowly made its way up their arm.
“Bob? Majer?” Lilly and I asked at the same time
No answer. Lilly poked them both.
“Stone cold” she said.
