(This is just a fanfic thing i made up; Max is narrating, like in the books.)
Fang leaned against a tree, and half smiled, sending a shiver down my spine. "'Sup?" He said, his voice level. I blushed, and smiled back at him. "Nothing... you?" He didn't answer, instead he turned around, extending his midnight black wings. "You coming?" He asked, his beautiful black eyes shining in the moonlight. I nodded, and stretched my wings out. They were brown on top, and faded to white at the bottom, with dark flecks all over. We took off simultaneously, causing a cloud of dust to rise where we had been standing. It was so beautiful, being up so high, surrounded by stars. And then there was Fang next to me, which only made it better. We just flew for a while, enjoying the view, until Fang started to slow down. He looked at me, and I practically read his mind. We flew straight up, getting closer to eachother, until we were mere inches apart. Our wingtips touched on each downstroke. I smiled a little, and he tilted his head, leaning in. Just before our lips met, I felt a bullet zing through my flight feathers. "Split up!" I swept my wings down hard, and shot staight up. I arced backwards, and rolled as I dove. I glanced around for our attacker, and caught a glimpse of fang swerving. He winced and grabbed his side, and I yelled. "Fang!!" He kept flying, but I knew he was hurt bad. Suddenly someone grabbed me from behind, covering my wings so I couldn't fly. "Bad idea!" I said, and snapped them out as hard as I could. He fell back, but started to rise again. I realized he had black wings like fang. he was also wearing a black uniform and a mask, so he barely showed up against the night sky. I rushed at him, andplowed into his chest. I heard a muffled grunt, and planted a roundhouse kick in the side of his head. That seemed to work, and he dropped like a rock. "Stupid M-geeks." I muttered. Then I remembered Fang.
