When I woke up, I had the world's worst headache. I groaned loudly and sat up. I'd expected to still be on the floor in the main room, but to my surprise I was in Shadow's room. I pushed back the covers and swung my legs over the side if the bed. I stood up, my knees wobbling dangerously. I clutched the headboard of Shadow's bed for support.
What in the name if all that us sacred happened?
All I remembered was a searing pain in blooming in my skull as someone cracked me over the head with something, then the world slowly fading into the velvety blackness of unconsciousness.
Whoever hit me, was going to die a very slow, very painful death.
I steadied myself and walked out of Shadow's room, feeling like I was about to fall over. I made my way down to the lobby, only to find Jason, Shadow, Lukas, and Vergil discussing something in low voices.
"Who hit me?" I asked, rubbing my head where a bump had formed. Shadow looked up at me from his conversation. He frowned a little.
"You sure recovered fast." Jason observed. I shrugged.
"Answer the question." I said. Shadow's frown deepened.
"You should probably get back to bed." Lukas advised
"That hammer really came down on you pretty hard." I felt heat rush into my cheeks, burning with anger.
"Someone hit me with a hammer?" I demanded. Vergil winced.
"Take it down an octave, Fal." he said. "It wasn't a big-"
"Someone hit her with a hammer, Vergil." Jason interrupted "She is going to regard it as a big deal."
"Fallyn, you're not going to like this." Shadow sighed. "You're not on good terms with the person who hit you." I narrowed my eyes.
"Was it Anna-Marie?" I demanded. Shadow rolled his eyes.
"No." he said, calmly.
"And so the sleeping beauty has awoken." a low, silky voice drawled behind me. I whirled around, ignoring the stabbing pain in my head. A tall, thin dark haired guy smirked at me.
"Or should I say sleeping ugly?" he mused. I let out a low, infuriated hiss.
"Anubis." I growled. Anubis the Annoyance smiled charmingly at me, causing the sudden urge to knock his teeth out to bubble up inside me.
"The one and only." he grinned. "It's been a long time, Miss Fallyn Jade Lockehearte. Still as fiery as ever I see."
"And you're still as irritating as ever." I snapped. He gave me one of his 'You know you love me looks' and the urge to hit him grew stronger.
"He's also the one who hit you with a hammer." Vergil added helpfully. I narrowed my eyes.
"I told you that you weren't going to like it." Shadow murmured.
