She wouldn't cry;
She wouldn't allow the tears
To form in her eyes,
But she would lie.
She would cover the pain
For it to fester inside,
She was raised on adrenaline,
Taught to stay alive.
She was a soldier,
But the weight on her heart
Was like a boulder,
Weighing her down
Until she drowned.
She was digging her own grave,
Where she could bury herself away,
And escape from this cage
She once knew as a life,
Escape from these people,
Who brought upon all this strife.
