“Whatchya’ doin’, Grace?”
Splat. There went my liquid eyeliner onto my carpet.
“WHAT are you doing in my ROOM, LUCY!?”
Please tell me that eyeliner comes out of carpet…
“I came in here to see what you were doing. And to ask you if you can fix Nina.”
Crap… I doesn’t come out very easy…
“Grace? Can you fix Nina?”
I spun around in frustration and annoyance and knocked over my blush in the process. Poof! It landed on the carpet next to my eyeliner.
“NO! Not right now! I am already going to be late for school because of you! Look what you did!!” I gestured to the makeup laying on the floor. Lucy stared at it, then looked at me.
“Oh, I’m sorry Grace, I didn’t MEAN to, I just wanted to know if you could fix Ni-“
“GET OUT OF MY ROOM!”
Lucy’s bottom lip quivered, and with a little sob she dropped her stuffed animal and ran out of my bedroom, tears streaming down her face. I should of felt guiltier about it than I did, but I was to annoyed at the fact that Sean would be arrive to pick me up for school, and I wasn’t even CLOSE to ready.
With a sigh of frustration, I swiped my eyeshadow on and quickly rose from my vanity. I heard the doorbell ring, and I stumbled across my room to grab my bag, then rushed out of my bedroom, accidentally kicking Lucy’s little stuffed rabbit into the makeup mess on the floor on my way out.

“And she’s just like, “Omigosh, I’m sorry but just fix my freakin’ stuffed animal!”
I got a chorus of laughs and imitations from the group of friends I was talking to. I didn’t know any of them very well, but they were very popular, and Seanhung out with them ALL the time.
“Your little sister sounds like a jerk,” laughed one of the boys who had thick, rectangular glasses. I rolled my eyes for effect and groaned.
“Oh, TELL me about it! She’s always asking me to do stuff with her and fix things she breaks and help her with things. She needs to get a life and let me live mine.”
“Yeah,” nodded a straight-haired blonde, “She sounds worse than my siblings.”
I made a face and laughed, then caught Tim rummaging in his locker nearby. For some reason, I shifted uneasily, and suddenly felt a little bad about bad-mouthing my little sister. I shook my head and shrugged, turning back to Sean and my group of friends.
After a few more minutes, the bell rang, and I threw in a quick comment as everyone scattered.
“Let me tell you, I would be so happy if she wasn’t around.”

I waved to Sean and bounded up the steps of the front porch. I burst through the front door and ranup to my room, shouting, “I’m hooo-oooome!”, on my way upstairs. I rushed in and threw my bag onto the floor. I quickly changed clothes and grabbed a makeup wipe, smearing of the thick and bright makeup on my face. I tossed it on the floor and switched off my bedroom light. I started running down the stairs and suddenly heard an ear-piercing scream from the kitchen, causing me to trip awkwardly down the last 5 steps. I picked myself up and ran as fast as I could into the other room, to see my mom standing by the counter, the phone up to her ear. She was deathly pale and trembling, and a couple tears were obvious on her white face. I could feel my throat tighten; something was very wrong.
“Y-yes…o-of course …t-thank you, we wi-will be right over…”
She hung up the phone and hurriedly brushed past me. I followed her as she rushed upstairs and spoke to me.
“Grace Lucy has been run over by a car and she is in the hospital and I have to meet your dad there and I need you to stay here because Mrs. Lowe is bringing by something she needs to drop off and I will call you when I leave goodbye hon everything will be fine.”
I stared at the door that she shut before I had a chance to answer her. I stood in mute numbness, the quiet, dim house empty besides me, and slowly, ever-so-slowly, the realization of what my mom had said began to sink in.
Lucy had been…
…run over by a car.
(Once again, sorry for my late chapter! I hope this chapter was a surprising twist, without being to rushed. Please tell me how I did! I love reviews! …I think I’ve said that a million times… Thanks!)
