Alrighty:
I have Tourrette Syndrome.
It's not that different from other neurological disorders. Tourrette Syndrome causes an excess of brain activity, in a sense, and causes a certain chemical in the brain to act strange, making the body do uncontrollable, or sometimes hard to restrain, actions. Right now I am on medication. It really sucks, knowing that I'll never be a normal kid. But at the same time, I know I'm not the only one. As of now, my "tics" (action caused by TS) are minimal. Tapping my foot twice the speed as the teacher's tempo in band class, and the occasional high pitched squeak, or making a loud "Ehh" sound.
What bothers me, is that people are so damn ignorant. You do something uncontrollably, and a kid will yell at you (literally, in my case) "Shut the F--- up!" And then when I tell them I have a disorder., they either refuse to believe me, or don't apologize for being rash and ignorant. It's even worse at a public store, or area, like Publix. I squeaked loudly, and a man down the aisle looked up at the fire alarm, and mumbled "stupid alarms..."
The same goes for Auristic children: They can't help it. And it really stinks that it isn't common knowledge among the poulation that us disorder kids have issues to deal with everyday!
