This is a new blog series were I talk about my favourite films (and yours). Misery is a physcological thriller adapted from Steven King's novel of the same name. If you want to watch this film I strongly suggest you get your parent's permission beforehand. Anyhow, let's get this started.
Plot
Paul Sheldon is the protagonist. In the story, he is a famous author who has just completed his latest novel. However, as he is on his way to publish it, he ends up in a blizzard. This results in a car crash. However, a mysterious woman sees the car crash and rescues him. Ironically, this woman is the main antagonist. You'll find out why soon. It turns out she is a qualified nurse and bandages him up.
She says her name is Annie Wilkes. Anne then states she is Paul's 'number one fan.' In other words, she worships his novels. Normally this would be a good situation to be in but eventually everything changes. You see, Paul has a broken leg and is supposed to take painkillers for it. But the pills aren't like painkillers at all...
When she feeds him soup she notices his novel. After reading it, she explodes in a fit of rage. She forces him to redo the story because he kills off her favourite character. A lot more stuff happens but telling you spoils the film. I know that isn't much but I'd like you to find out more about her on your own.
Why This Film is On the List:
Because what he finds out about her, we also find out. Usually in a horror film we find out stuff before characters to add suspense. However, during this film figuring things out adds more suspense and the fact that he is injured creates further tension. I rate this film 4.2 stars.
i saw an anime(i forget what its called) where one of the episodes was like this. basicly, a romance novelist's biggest fan goes to his house and kills him. she then sacrifises his soul with his wifes, she keeps on doing this ever night untill they get immune to it and go to the after life. you have to watch it to see the resemblence. i havent seen this movie but now i kinda want to.
