Ever since my moving to Wernersville, Pennsylvania from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, I have really gotten in touch with my country roots, so I though I'd share a few songs with y'all.
Note: If you do not like country music, please no rude or hurtful comments--I'm hurt enough as it is thank you.
Because of the separation of me and my one true love, these are just a few songs that I like to sing when I go for walks in the country, wondering what could have been if I never blabbed my mouth away:
Darius Rucker - "Comeback Song" This is a song about a guy who loses his girl, and then asks her to come back in the form of song via the radio. If you have a relationship problem, this song may work for ya, but you'd most likely have to sing it over the radio, otherwise it's pointless.
Darius Rucker - "Comeback Song" - Lyrics I woke up again this morning
And wouldn’t you know it… pouring rain
I went and burned a pot of coffee
And like us I poured it down the drain
‘Cause I didn’t know I needed you so
And letting you go was wrong
And baby I know you got your radio on
So this is my my bad, come back song
I know I said I wouldn’t miss you
But now I’m saying I’m a fool
You’re on the feel good side of leaving
And I’m the backside of a mule
‘Cause I didn’t know I needed you so
And letting you go was wrong
And baby I know you got your radio on
So this is my so sad come back song
And now I’m laying down without you
In this king size empty bed
And I wish I had my arms around you
Now I’ll just dream of you instead
‘Cause I didn’t know I needed you so
And letting you go was wrong
And baby I know you got your radio on
So this is my get back, come back
Hey, I didn’t know I needed you so
And letting you go and letting you go was wrong
And baby I know you got your radio on
So this is my my bad, come back song
Oh yeah yeah
I know I said I wouldn’t miss you
I said I wouldn’t miss you girl, yeah
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na
We all sang na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na, yeah
Darius Rucker - "This" This song is probably what could have been in a way, yet not all of this song pertains to me. If it does for you, this'd be a great song to use.
Darius Rucker - "This" - Lyrics Got a baby girl sleeping in my bedroom
And her mama laughing in my arms
There's the sound of rain on the rooftop
And the game's about to start
I don't really know how I got here
But I'm sure glad that I did
And it's crazy to think that one little thing
Could've changed all of it
Maybe it didn't turn out like I planned
Maybe that's why I'm such, such a lucky man
(Chorus)
For every stoplight I didn't make
Every chance I did or I didn't take
All the nights I went too far
All the girls that broke my heart
All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn't know
Thank God for all I missed
Cause it led me here to
This
Like the girl that I loved in high school
Who said she could do better
Or that college I wanted to go to
'Til I got that letter
All the fights and the tears and the heartache
I thought I'd never get through
And the moment I almost gave up
All lead me here to you
I didn't understand it way back when
But sitting here right now it all makes perfect sense
Repeat Chorus
How I cried when my mama passed away
But now I've got an angel looking out for me today
So nothing's a mistake
Darius Rucker - "I Got Nothin'" This is a very sad song actually, and it makes me cry almost evr'y time I sing it or even hear Darius sing it. This can work for any relationship--it can be hypothetical.
Darius Rucker - "I Got Nothin'" - Lyrics It’s my third cup of coffee
The fifth time I said I’m sorry
The sun slowly peakin' through the glass
Says we’ve been up all night
We all know where this is going
It’s been a long time coming
Is it really over
Is this really goodbye
Maybe I should say something
Maybe you'd change your mind
Maybe maybe
Buy a little more time
But I got nothing
No magic words
To stop your leaving
To end this hurt
I’m just blank
I’m staring into space
Praying please please let me think of something
‘Cause I got nothing
I watch you pack your things
You look down at your ring
Slowly slip off and then lay it on our bed
Maybe I should pick it up
And get down on my knees
Tell you what you want to hear
And give you what you need
But I got nothing
No magic words
To stop your leaving
To end this hurt
I’m just blank
I’m staring into space
Praying please please let me think of something
‘Cause I got nothing
You’re almost at the door
And you stop and turn around
You’re eyes are begging me
Please say something right now
But I got nothing
No magic words
To stop your leaving
I can't end this hurt
I’m just blank
I’m staring into space
Praying please please let me think of something
‘Cause if you go
I got nothing
Darius Rucker - "Alright" Another song that could've been, this is one of Darius Rucker's greatest hits of all time, ranking in the top 10 of the greatest country songs on 92.5 WXTU. This can also be hypothetical.
Don't need no five star reservations
I've got spaghetti and a cheap bottle of wine
Don't need no concert in the city
I've got a stereo and the best of Patsy Cline
Ain't got no caviar no Dom Perignon
But as far as I can see, I've got everything I want
Cause I've got a roof over my head,
the woman I love laying in my bed
And it's alright, alright
I've got shoes under my feet
Forever in her eyes staring back at me
And it's alright, alright
And I've got all I need
And it's alright by me
Maybe later on we'll walk down to the river
Lay on a blanket and stare up at the moon
It may not be no French Riviera
But it's all the same to me as long as im with you
It may be a simple life, but that's okay
If you ask me baby, I think I've got it made
Cause I've got a roof over my head,
the woman I love laying in my bed
And it's alright, alright
I've got shoes under my feet
Forever in her eyes staring back at me
And it's alright, alright
And I've got all I need
And it's alright by me
It's alright by me, yeah yeah
When I lay down at night I thank the Lord above
For giving me everything I ever could dream of
Cause I've got a roof over my head,
the woman I love laying in my bed
And it's alright, alright, alright, alright
I've got shoes under my feet
Forever in her eyes staring back at me
And it's alright, alright, alright
And I've got all I need, yeah
I've got all I need
And it's alright by me
Oh yeah, it's alright by me
Chris Young - "Tomorrow" This is a great comeback song for you guys out there. It's about a guy who spends his last night with his girl. This is kinda an impossibility (at my age), but if I were older, it would (actually) make sense to sing it.
Chris Young - "Tomorrow" - Lyrics [Verse 1]
Tomorrow I'm gonna leave here
I'm gonna let you go and walk away
Like every day I said I would
And tomorrow, I'm gonna listen
To that voice of reason inside my head Telling me that we're no good
[Chorus]
But tonight I'm gonna give in one last time
Rock you strong in these arms of mine
Forget all the regrets that are bound to follow
We're like fire and gasoline
I'm no good for you
You're no good for me
We only bring each other tears and sorrow
But tonight, I'm gonna live you like there's no tomorrow
[Verse 2]
Tomorrow I'll be stronger
I'm not gonna break down and call you up When my heart cries out for you
And tomorrow, You won't believe it
But, when I pass your house
I won't stop, No matter how bad I want to
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
Baby when we're good, You know we're great
But there's too much bad for us to think That there's anything worth trying to save
[Chorus]
Tomorrow, I'm gonna leave here
I'm gonna let you go and walk away
Like every day I said I would
Chris Young - "The Man I Wanna Be" Another song that makes me cry, it makes me want to be a better man.
Maybe then I wouldn't have screwed things up the first time, then I wouldn't be praying to God for a second chance if there is one at all.
Note: I highly recommend you see the music video for this song--it's fantastic.
Chris Young - "The Man I Wanna Be" - Lyrics
God I'm down here on my knees
Cause it's the last place left to fall
Beggin' for another chance
If there's any chance at all
That you might still be listenin'
Lovin' and forgivin' guys like me
I've spent my whole life gettin' it all wrong
And I sure could use your help just from now on
I wanna be a good man
A do like I should man
I wanna be the kind of man the mirror likes to see
I wanna be a strong man
And admit that I was wrong man
God I'm askin’ you to come change me
Into the man I wanna be
If there's any way for her and me to make another start
Could you see what you could do
To put some love back in her heart
Cause it gonna to take a miracle
After all I've done to really make her see
That I wanna be a stay man
I wanna be a brave man
I wanna be the kind of man she sees in her dreams
God I wanna be your man
And I wanna be her man
God I only hope she still believes
In the man I wanna be
Well I know this late at night that talk is cheap
But Lord don't give up on me yeah
I wanna be a givin' man
I wanna really start livin' man
God I'm askin’ you to come change me
Into the man I wanna be
David Nail - "Let it Rain" Ouch. This song makes me cry too.
It's about a man who cheats on his wife for just one night, and everything jus' goes downhill for him.
It can be hypothetical, so it makes sense for me to sing this.
David Nail - "Let it Rain" - Lyrics Its hard to find the perfect time to say something you know is gonna change everything;
living with the shame;
it ain't nothing like the pain that I saw on her face;
now me and my pile of things
that she throw out the window;
drowning next to me;
no seven years of good cant hide the one night I forgot to wear that ring.
So let it rain, let it pour, if she don't love me anymore;
just let it come down on me, let it come down on me;
every word, let it hurt, even more than I deserve;
let it come down on me, let it come down on me, let it rain.
Last thing I remember was the young familiar taste of someone on my lips;
It's to late to turn around.
When the shades start coming down;
the guilt you feels the last thing on your mind.
So let it rain, let it pour, if she don't love me anymore;
just let it come down on me, let it come down on me;
every word, let it hurt, even more than I deserve;
just let it come down on me, let it come down on me, let it rain;
so let it rain, let it pour, if she don't love me anymore;
just let it come down on me, let it come down on me.
Every word, let it hurt, even more than I deserve; just let it come down on me,
let it come down on me; let it rain,
Ooh let it rain, ooh let it rain, just let it rain, just let it rain, ooh let it rain
Steve Holy - "Love Don't Run" A so-so in tear-jerking, this song is about a man trying to save his relationship.
This is a perfect song for a heartbroken guy to sing no matter what is age, race, or sexuality. It's perfect.
Steve Holy - "Love Don't Run" - Lyrics This is gonna hurt, this is gonna hurt like hell
This is gonna damn near kill me, sometimes the truth ain't easy
I know that you’re scared of telling me something
I don’t wanna hear, but baby believe that
I’m not leaving, you couldn’t give me one good reason
[Chorus:]
Love don’t run, love don’t hide
It won't turn away or back down from a fight
Baby I’m right here and I ain't going anywhere
Love’s too tough it wont give up no not on us
Baby Love don’t run
Let’s lay it on the line, I don’t care if it takes all night cause
This is gonna make us stronger, it’s gonna make forever longer
I know it’d be easier walking away but what we got is real
And I wanna save us, baby we can do it, Baby we’ll get through it 'cause...
[Chorus:]
Love don’t run, love don’t hide
It won't turn away or back down from a fight
Baby I’m right here and I ain't going anywhere
Love’s too tough, it wont give up no not on us
Baby Love don’t run
Baby love don’t run
[Bridge:]
So come over here and lay down in my arms
Baby tell me everything that’s on your heart, 'cause...
[Chorus:]
I won’t run, and I won’t hide
I won’t turn away, I just wanna make things right
Baby I’m right here and I ain't going anywhere
Love’s too tough it won’t give up no not on us
Baby Love don’t run
Baby Love don’t run
Y'see, surprisingly these here songs give me faith.
Faith that I can get a second chance with my dearest Virginia.
I just hope she knows that I will always love her, and this separation (combined with these songs and more) are just making my love for her stronger by the day.
