All alone in a world
filled with wills and wonders
and no one to share
this spectacular view.
From my place in the sky
not yet the sky, but a tower
I lean out to see more
no worries of falling.
I long to feel what they do
the gentle caresses of copmanionship
a chill breeze in my hair
the scratch of grass on my bare feet
the closeness of love...
but they left me alone
with naked stone walls
and a window.
All alone in a world
filled with loss and suffering
each day it gets worse
and takes my breath away.
From my place underground
not yet underground, but a hole
I stretch out to the sky
wishing to rise.
I long to feel what they do
a serene weightlessness
the absence of grime
the extension of dreams
the constance of comfort...
but they left me alone
with crumbling dirt walls
and a window.
All alone in a world
more a prison than home
where hope isn't real
and neither is fairness.
From my place in a tower
no more a tower, the sky
and nothing to help me down
so here I remain.
I can see so much from here
the crystalline shine of the ocean
the rippling fields of grass
the ancient, strong woods
and jet black depressions...
but they left me alone
with naked stone walls
and a window.
