All alone in a world
more a trap than home
where light isn't real
and all is blind.
From my place in a hole
no more a hole, underground
nothing to brighten my life
so here I remain.
I can see so much from here
the shifting of the earth
the hidden life-forms
the melodies of mud
and the breathing of rocks...
but they left me alone
with crumbling dirt walls
and a window.

All alone in a world
filled with life and death
I have fulfilled my duties
and now I must go.
Time to end this cycle
of nonstop pain and awe
to make my way down
to end their control.
I wanted so much
to feel like them
to live somewhere else
to visit the places I saw
and now, to die in peace
because they left me alone
with naked stone walls
and a window.

To farewell my mysteries
and the crowded dark
to make my way up
to end their control.
