This last week, I've been very tied up with development of the MPO encoder for use on 3dspaint.com. Once this project is finished, it will open up many unique features that one cannot find on any other website made for the Nintendo 3DS (or really any other website in general). By this, I am referring to the generation of original 3D content to be viewed and saved by any product that supports MPO images (which is a fast-growing arena). I estimate that the encoder will be completed within the next few days.

The first project making use of this encoder will be the 3DSPaint Web app, which will go into its second beta release next weekend. 3DSPaint will save artwork as line drawings instead of PNG images (which DSiPaint and WiiPaint do). This allows many benefits:

1. Go back and edit artwork at any time after saving, including removing strokes that lie anywhere within the artwork.
2. Convert images into variable depths, sort of like the depth slider on the Nintendo 3DS for games, just as webpage form buttons instead.
3. Encode the artwork into several file formats, including JPEG, MPO, PNG, and GIF.
4. Resize the artwork with no quality loss.
5. View a temporal component to the image, meaning that someone can view the image and see that the oldest strokes are in the background and the newest in the foreground.
