Type: Free Verse

I wake up in my bed. It's just another day.

It's another night of dreams I wish were true.

I think of my goals, and all I wish to accomplish.

Then I look in a mirror, and assess what I see.

What I view in that mirror, is something that isn't me.

I see my hopes and dreams actually comng true.

I see a scenerio where my life was happy.

Then that scenerio fades.


Then I take another assessment, this one far more jarring.

My looks? Couldn't be worse. Acne, braces, out of shape, and bad hair.

My dreams? The moon seems within closer reach.

My happiness? I haven't felt the true emotion in many months.

My depression? It worsens with every moment.

My life? An overall failure on my own part.

Each day I take this assessment.

Each day I make a choice.

Are my dreams worth dreaming, if they never will come true?

Or should I end them along with me too?

Each I take an assessment. And each day I think of you.

I wish you too, would share this emotion so true.
