Firstly, I was writing a story called Wolves, but that has ended and I'm writing this instead. They are about some of the same characters, so if you liked my other story, you might like this one!

Part One: In The Beginning

In the days when Nightshade and Inca were just pups, both wolves dreamed of leading their own pack. Never did they suspect they would be leading together... Back in those days, they had little or no instinct to reproduce, that would come later. And the two wolves barely knew each other.

Inca was a pup of the Snow Cave Pack. Nightshade was a pup of the Nettle Scar Pack. The packs were rivals, and pack members were forbidden to show any form of affection to members of the other pack.

But when Inca reached the age of nine, she saw Nightshade, and wanted to know who the mysterious black wolf was. As for Nightshade, he had been watching Inca for quite some time. Eventually, Nightshade brought up the courage to speak to Inca.
