Let's do our annual review of progress in the community both based on goals from last year and new ideas that arose during the time. For reference, here is the blog with the original goals for 2011.

DSIPAINT / SPRITER
There were plans to update both apps during the year with added features.

Other than some bug fixes and code cleanup, little was done with the existing apps. They were met with two new brethren, though: 3DSPaint and TMJ Tiler. 3DSPaint allows creation of 3D artwork that can also be exported to numerous other image formats. TMJ Tiler features several filters and supports editing of previously-saved artwork.

GAMES
There was originally to be a new game called "Risky", based on Risk but with big technology companies as the teams.

The game Risky was tossed aside for many other projects. In its place were several additions for both the DSi, the 3DS, and the Wii, through the Game for a Game competition.

GAME SHOWS
There was a planned app dedicated to just game shows.

This never happened - due to numerous other projects. It may happen one day, but there is so much to do yet in other areas.

THE MYSTICAL JOURNEY
There were going to be two more demos: one similar to the Wind Waker intro and one similar to Teaser 3.

Any volunteers who would help with artwork for these demos would vanish off the face of the planet without a trace, so these particular demos never arrived. Still, there was progress made on this game.

1. TMJ Tiler allows creation of artwork using nothing but a Nintendo 3DS.
2. The inventory area ties member profiles and Savii Points into the eventual shops in TMJ.
3. Old Man Skunk opened his shop to insult n00bs and preview what stores will looks like in TMJ. OMS's shop started as a proof-on-concept scripting engine for NPCs. This is a vital component to TMJ, along with the battle engine and the tile scrolling engine. The latter two are in early forms, but the NPC one is proving to be fairly robust, as of New Year's Eve.

SAVIIS
There was going to be an app for Savii contests.

This app never came. Instead, features of the Saviis have been spreading to other areas of the websites. Additionally, a new Savii project is underway, which will support twice the image resolution and 3D export. Don't forget the domain name http://saviis.com.

SURVEYS
There was going to be a survey app to replace the manually-generated homepage polls.

The Member Polls app is alive and well with 8959 submissions!

3DSPAINT.COM
A new member to the website family was in early form: 3DSPaint.com with expected maturation to the level of the others.

3DSPaint.com started as a mirror website of DSiPaint.com but soon started gaining many exclusive features that make use of the 3D and image upload abilities of the Nintendo 3DS Internet Browser. It will continue to grow with the other websites over the next year.

HULLBREACH ONLINE
There was a 3DS version planned, which would look like a mobile Wii version.

There was no time for this, but some enhancements were made to the DSi version so that it could also be played on the 3DS.

So, it looks like a very different direction was taken in 2011 than originally planned. I will be posting a blog for 2012 goals shortly. Let's see how well those hold up over this next year!
