So, what is an OBE? It is the acronym for Out of Body experiences. During sleep, or even meditation, one can slip out of their bodies. OBEs are important for other branches of sleep activities, like astral projection or lucid dreaming. Before I elaborate, let me explain how to detect an OBE.

There are immediate OBEs, along with alteration of the senses.

Immediate ones can be experienced by any sleeper. The person has just fallen asleep or for some moments. People will feel a sliding of the body. On personal experience, I feel like I fall through my bed. About 1 in 10 can or have had an OBE. Most subjects immediately become aware and "snap" back into their body. The lag causes sleep paralysis for half of the people experiencing it. I have felt the paralysis myself. It lasts for just seconds.

Sensory OBEs can be induced forcefully or by doing activities. Hikers or tourists who visit high altitudes can have dual sensations. The person deeply intakes their surroundings normally, and then get aerial experiences, as if a helicopter floats around them with a camera, and they`re watching the footage.

Sensory deprivation can also trigger OBEs. By removing time and other surroundings, one can focus much easier. Water chambers will get this result for you. You float in a dark tank, and the water is at your body temp. They are said to be very relaxing and time slips away.



If one can master the inducing of an OBE, then they can lucid dream or astral project.
