The Importance of Backing up Data

The good: I had a backup from 11 hours ago.
The bad: I accidentally dropped the DSiPaint database.
The ugly: Around 20 member accounts were lost.

Oops!

The funny: Since chatrooms are now on their own server, several members didn't even notice the 5 minutes of downtime when I was restoring the main database.

I guess that explains why the chats break independently from the rest of the site and vice versa.

This happend on fanfiction too, the login page on the site wouldn't load. In other news, am I the only one that didn't lose anything in the downtime?

This reminds me about the time I dropped my 3DS on the floor.
I didn't have a backup for my 3DS, unfortunately. Lost ALL data (except the game data, they transferred that over for me).

What sucked was... It was RIGHT before that new game I won arrived XD

Danny, I keep trying to call you to brag about my Tower, but you won't answer DX
Take a look on there later. I have put some functions on there you might be interested in putting on tWiiter.

I wasn't online at the time(or maybe I was in the chatrooms), so I didn't notice anything. By the way, an average of almost two new members per hour isn't that bad, right? Although some of them may have been alts.

Last week i notices the server moving awful slow so i message Zues and he said he notices the same problem.

Oh on my site i have 3 tables

Users table - ( which have everyone info)
Chattrom - (Messages and more...)
)comment - ( which have Profile comments)


Main thing i bk up is uses table which is my main table.

Here is how the servers are set up:

Public: files, email
DB1: main databases
DB2: chatroom databases

DB1 is the server I pulled from the backup.

It's fun if you didn't lose anything, but it's a mess, otherwise. I'm just glad that around 8 hours of this are common downtime hours that little goes on.

oh, so thats why i was messaging, then next thing i knew ALL my messages were deleted, then my account, then the site wouldn't load.

11 hours were lost, mmmhm.... thats why some messages dissapeared? :o
