Hello again fellow painters! I'm here today not only to announce who got its tileset chosen among all this awesome work that was submitted, but also to give a few more tips on tile making.
Last blog's theme was stones, but remember that stones are just a reference, these tips I'll be giving on this blog and that i gave on my previous blog can be used to make any kind of tiles, you have to let your imagination fly!
Thats the texture i displayed on my last blog.
Ok, first I'd like to mention one of the tile sets i received and talk more about it.
F.L.O.O.D. worked on a casual stone tileset, name "tavern wall" by him, i see that he took my hint of making several layers of shadows so that the depth and volume effects of the 2D drawing would show up better;
The tile is decently detailed, and its completely worth its mention. F.L.O.O.D. Did a very good work, and I'm sure his work will be used in future maps of TMJ, its a great contribution. Its a common tile, and I'm not saying its bad, its a good tile it just doesn't go away from the common, and that is needed since we'll need slightly variations of many kinds of tiles, including tiles with a different style of work.
If you saw my stone tiles, you should have noticed that they have many common characteristics, thats due to my art style, it will never change, even thought i can vary it considerably.

Now look at F.L.O.O.D's:
Very different right? He chose to use lighter in between color and darker stones, and he has a more robust drawing.
These are stones in a sand area, i have to admit that was unexpected : P.
I'm choosing this work because its not only incredibly detailed, but its also something i didn't expect. Its always good to innovate!
This is a very specific kind of tile, it will most likely be used in a sand map some time in the future, with tilesets like this one:
A great one made by DethDude He is an amazing artist.
Thats it for today guys!
I hope you liked these blogs, I'll probably make similar works in the future, I'll be a little busy with school this work and I'll be dedicating some of the time i stay in 3DSPaint.com with TMJ, but i will hopefully find some time in between to write more blogs!
Thanks for your attention, and don't forget do design more tilesets : ) !
Tora.silver will be contacted to received his prize of 20 savii bucks and 100 savii points.
I'm very grateful to win this contest!
A couple of things: I haven't even finished this tile yet! lol See how there a quite a few rocks clumped together in the middle? I was actually planning on doing that to the rest of the tile. If you all don't mind, I think I'll finish it later.
Also, I did have some trounle with the edges. I had a bit of guesswork to do since I was using a 3DS, not coupled with a computer.
Last thing, if my tile is used along DethDude's(which would be an honor), I'd be glad to change the sand to a more orange hue to match his.
But anyways, like I said, I'm very grateful to win!
Wow, Tora made an impressive tile, without worrying about the edges.
He did worry about the edges, look at the full texture. It fits almost perfectly, the small flaws are covered in the end because they are almost not noticeable.
