Lost in 2.5 Dimensions - Why I Fear for 3rd Gen Pokemon Games By Eletious

Want the short story? Ice gripped my soul today when I heard that there's going to be a Pokemon: Black & White 2. Because instead of making a Grey, Nintendo's going to smack people like me directly between the legs.

I realize that the reason I'm so upset about this is because I now fear for the Ruby/Sapphire remakes that are pretty much inevitable. There are a variety of reasons, but to start with something small, I'm going to nitpick movement.

I hate 4th and 5th gen because my character has the agility of a dead elephant encased in cement. Legs are out of sync with the scrolling groun, I have to wait a good 5 seconds to stop running, I move slower... The list goes on and on.

Now in 3rd gen, movement was crisp. If you're running, and you let go of the D-pad, you STOP. DONE. No "realistic" deceleration crap, no funny slow movement. you hit left, you go left. If you're walking down, and you go right, you want that to HAPPEN, right? Running was a HUGE improvement over 2nd gen movement, not to mention bikes.

Ah, bikes. I love those things. You got 2 kinds, one that's REALLY FAST and one that can do all kinds of cool stuff that you probably can't do. The Mach Bike was SO FAST, you get going and it's like BOOM YOU'RE THERE, DONT TURN OH GOD NO--
And yeah, I guess 4th gen was like that... kinda... but the experience was lost because of the camera and the 3-D overworld. I'm not even gonna try 5th gen, I chucked the cartridge out the window.

Then the Acro Bike was like, super cool. You could do wheelies, bunny hops, turn better, all kinds of sweet stuff!
4th gen doesn't have it. It gives you the option of slowing down. No tricks. No fun. Judging from looking over my friend's shoulder, 5th gen is a LITTLE better. Well, you know, except for the fact that when you walk up it looks like you're ICE SKATING, but whatever.
Is this what we're getting next?

I personally find my Emerald one of my favorite pokemon game, but on running it is hard on a cluncky original DS.
(BONUS NOTE!) Sky Tower is only hard on the fourth level.TRUST ME!
I spent about 45 minutes on that thing.

You're making all these stupidly baseless assumptions without even knowing ANYTHING about the game.

It is confirmed that we're gonna have 300 Pokémon in B&W2, unlike the first B&W where it was strictly Pokémon of that generation.

And we have FireRed and LeafGreen if you want a remake of those generations so badly.

Gain some innovation eventually? Did you even play Pokémon Black or White!? The fact that it had so much character development and an actual story was a huge innovation for Pokémon!

I will have no fears for B&W2 if it contains the story element that B&W did so well.

The running feature is not the only thing I hate about the game, but it is the most simple thing I hate about it. Also, it was the easiest to write a rant about it that stayed within the character restraint.
