Nintendo 3DS firmware update (25/04)

Savii Hello fellow painters!

This is going to be a rare news blog from me, because it will have no pictures D:

But Einstein will be here to help me out with the news.

Ok lets begin,

So, as you may (have not) noticed, a Nintendo press event has been hosted live online recently, 21/04 to be exact, hosted by the CEO of Nintendo of Europe himself, Mr. Shibata.

He talked about games (What?! who hosts a gaming company press event and talks about GAMES?!) and the not expected coming firmware update.

It has been detailed that the new update will allow us to create folders in the home menu, judging the pictures (so sorry i can't post any from the 3DS.) we'll be able il give them a name and they will store up to 60 items/icons each.

The new update will also allow 3DS software to be patched (and receive DLC, maybe?), Mr. Shibata has stated that a fix for Mario Kart 7's glitches (Maka Wuhu, Wuhu Loop and more?) will come shortly after, and publicly apologized any frustrations caused by them.

BUT YES!!! FINALLY, NO MORE CHEATING, YOU HEARD ME !!!

The update will also allow any devs to fix post launch bugs in their games (cartridge or download), the patches will happen via eShop.

I'm not sure if (or how) we will be obliged to patch Mario Kart 7, its obvious that if Nintendo is sending a fix, then nobody is going to be able to play online and submit ghost data/times without patching it, as the glitch abused time trial times would show up near honest ghosts and times, the current times will most likely be deleted.

Its going to be interesting to see the patching process and the reactions to it, won't it?

As a side note, the update will most likely, (as usual) bring security updates and bug fixes as well as software enhancement.

UPDATE:

You can already update your 3DS, the update has come earlier than expected! (Nintendo usually does that at 12am, not 1am of the next day)

Thats why for the first folder you should use a cool symbol like ∞ or ¤.

Lad, I truly don't understand your excitement for DLC on the 3DS. DLC = Less content in your game to start with, pay for the rest.

Maybe you should see Capcom's latest propaganda on their console games and see for the worst...[/quote]

I have a DSiWare folder, a 'pass software folder (street/spotpass), and a Misc. Software folder.

I wonder if the DLC will be used in Kid Icarus. New maps for Together mode perhaps.

It is so awesome! I can organized all of my games in some particular folders. It also saves A LOT of room on my system menu.

If you'd read where he talked about Maka Wuhu, you'd see that it said 'shortly after'. Basically, they're working on it. I'm gonna be so happy when the patch is released. Cheaters get on my nerves, so I showed 'em how it felt one day by throwing down six bananas in a row (I happened to get two sets of three in a row, lucky me!) then carefully made my way through them at top speed as the regular cheaters who had already done that three times before (I was playing for a couple of hours lol) started spinning out and I got way ahead. I think I made my point clear enough. Trying to cheat can and will bite you in the butt!

Done. I just updated upon reading this blog.
Useful! I have a folder for DSiWare, and one for Virtual Console. The rest is just displayed normally. What does everyone else use them for?
