What is Möbius?

More like who. Möbius is a German mathematician who was born 1790 and died 1868. His work was based in numerous areas which include geometry, complex analysis and number theory. However, his most famous discovery was the Möbius Band/Strip.

This is probably the most curious surface in mathematics. In order to understand it, imagine an ant on a normal, elastic band. It would cover one side if it wanted to complete a revolution. On a Möbius band it would complete two 'sides.' In actual fact, the Möbius band is one sided. This may seem impossible but if you tried painting a side until you get back to the original point, you would have it in one colour.

You can make one very easily by cutting a strip of paper, half-twisting one end and glueing them together.

This surface is used to symbolise the repeating time concept because if time was to travel along a Möbius band, it would go back to the start thus repeating itself. Also, if you think of time as circular, a twist in it makes it loop. Similar to the Möbius band.

There are also some limericks inspired by this surface. A few of which contain innuendo as expected.

You can also prove that it is one-sided by poking a hole in the center of the loop and cutting around the loop. When you cut all the way around it should become two pieces, but it doesn't.

There are several versions of theories relating the Möbius Strip in time. Some relate to repetitions of the entire timeline. My focus is more on the aspect of fate. For instance, say you go back in time to give yourself the winning lottery numbers. This causes you to become a millionaire, who is able to fund research into a time machine, which you eventually use to bring that lottery ticket back to yourself. It is impossible to break that sequence of events; otherwise, none of them would be able to happen.

And the chicken joke is deeper than you think.
The original answer us to get to the other side. But here`s the catch. It`s not crossing physically. It`s purposefully walking into traffic to de, and reach the spiritual realm, in other words, the other side of life.

Just think about that one.

Great info! The concept of the novel Savant and I were writing is that time acts as a Temporal Causality Loop, or a Predestination Paradox. The novel's title comes from the repeating nature of the Möbius Strip and the debate as to whether or not one can travel through time to change the past, or if the past is fixed.
