"Success is taking an impossible leap and making it."
What does this mean exactly? It obviously doesn't mean jump off a building and survive. It means that you take the risk of failure, and against the odds, succeed.
It also means that something that can appear impossible at first, is achieveable if you are willing to take the chance.
Some of the most successful businessmen started from a risk. Richard Branson for example. He was in heavy debt after his first business failed. His parents gave him money to pay off the debts and he took the biggest gamble any man could take. He started up a second business aware of his initial failure. Everyone now knows that company as Virgin, one of the biggest companies in the world. This was a risk nobody would take and he succeeded. Nobody anywhere would have the guts to attempt this feat.
We aren't entrepreneurial geniuses though. We are ordinary people. What risks do we take? If the answer is none then you have failed. In order to succeed, you have to attempt and attempting involves taking the risk of failure. However, a fool takes ignores risk and 'leaps' blindly at something. A genius takes calculated risks. Sometimes, in order to move forward two steps you have to take one step backwards to think.
I'm not saying our actions should be risky. I'm saying that perhaps sometimes it's worth taking the risk of failure. Sometimes, success can only be achieved through risk.
I live suspended inside a large inflatable bubble, inside a cotton-wool lined room with incredibly thoroughly filtered air pumped into it. I don't take risks.
