This took place near the end of May 2011.
Last year on a trip to Six Flags in Arlington, Texas with my school's choir, my best friend, Carol, and I decided to ride Runaway Mountain, a rollercoaster designed to look like it's inside of a mountain. It's supposed to be pitch black inside the "cave" during the ride, but later I caught a glimpse of vents in the ceiling.
Well, when we finally got seated in Train #2, Train #1 was still inside the ride. It's thanks to what happened next that I came across the legend of Annie. The lights inside the cave came on and I saw Train #1 come roaring past near the entrance- then complete, dead silence. A second later I heard someone say "What the heck!? Why'd we stop?" Some of the ride operators went inside and got to work with whatever went wrong.
After about 5 minutes, around 12 people came out of the cave on the walkway along the side of the tracks where the trains are supposed to come back out. A guy Carol and I had been talking to about 15 minutes earlier came to the front of Train #2 and said they got stuck half upside-down. The two guys who were sitting behind us, Carol, and I burst out laughing. I thought it was hilarious. His school was about to leave so we said bye and waited for the ride to be fixed.
Another 5 minutes later, the ride still wasn't fixed. Carol and I were still sitting in the train. Train #1 still hadn't come out. I guess a brake got stuck when it stopped the train, or something like that. Anyway, another operator, a guy who looked like he could still be in high school, saw how bored we looked.
"Did any of you know that this ride is haunted?" he said. I gave him a look that meant [i]OMGIZZLES I LUV HAUNTED PLACES[/i]. A girl who was in line spoke up. "Oh, yeah. I've heard that before."
"I guess no one else has," he said. "Well, this ride is haunted by a little girl named Annie. She drowned in Johnson's Creek, not far from here. If you sit alone in one of the seats on the left side, you can feel her sitting beside you." Of course, I wanted to see if this was true. Yes, I do believe in ghosts.
Later that day, back home, I went on the internet to find out more about this. Apparently, Six Flags in Arlington was farmland in 1969 when Annie died. The Candy Kitchen was either her house, or is where her house used to be, and the shop near there that looks like a barn used to be her family's barn.
I also found more details about experiencing her during the ride. Most of the reported encounters I've read say Train 2, Car 2, Row 2. I'm going to go with what the operator said and guess that they were on the left side.
Some people have even reported seeing her sitting in what I call "Annie's seat" alone when they looked back during the ride (slightly lit because of air vents). Two girls said they saw a little girl on the ride one time, and they said hi, but she disappeared at the spiral.



Runaway Mountain is located in Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas. It is a steel, enclosed rollercoaster. Its highest point is 53 feet and it is 1,500 feet long. Its top speed is 40 miles per hour.
