The following is a Shakespeare-esque sonnet I composed for a poetry assignment in my language arts honors class about a very pretty girl in that class. I hope y'all like it!
Shall I compare thee to a glorious spring day?
Your form is as beautiful as that of a flower's
Yet your loveliness shan't rot nor decay;
Before your grace, death itself cowers.
Your eyes are the color of life-giving soil
From which such blossoms spring
And the great trees whose new leaves uncoil
To house the sparrows who of your allure sing.
You're sweeter than berries picked fresh from the vine,
More stunning than a spectacular spring sunset.
Your fairness and charm are no less than divine;
Not a more elegant lass have I met.
No one but you can possess such beauty
That in nonne others shall I see.
