Hey guys!It's been ages since I last wrote a blog,so I'm going to refresh some minds on what to do if someone collapses infront of you.

Now, I know this because I do Lifeguard sessions every day.

Picture the scene:
You're walking along a busy path when someone collapses infront of you.You have a phone.What do you do?

1.Clear the Area
Make sure no obstacles, dangers or people are in the way.Clear the way before starting.

2.Lightly shake their shoulders.
If they respond with talking, then keep talking to them and say it will be ok.If they cough, but are still unconscious,then see the bottom of the blog.If no response,them move to step 3.

3.Open the airway.
To do this,Place 2 fingers under their chin,your other hand on their forhead, and set the head slightly backwards.Put your ear close to their mouth and listen for breathing.Also look to see if their chest is rising up and down.

4.Call for help.
If you have a phone,then call 999 or 911 for a Cardiac Ambulance.If you don't have any phone,use someone elses.If there are no people around,then find a payphone.

5.CPR.
After that,begin CPR.Kneel down to them and place the heel of one hand their chest.DO NOT PUT IT DOWN LOWER THAN THE CHEST!!!!!Clench that hand with your other one and pump up and down 30 times.Then, seal your mouth over theirs and blow air 2 times.It may sound bad,but it's actually quite easy.Repeat thus until the ambulance comes.


After this,the ambulance will sort the rest out.Hopefully the victim will recover and thank you.


-Unconsciousness-
If at step 2, you read if they are breathing but unconscious,here is what to do.
Put one of their arms in an L shape.Put the other arm over their head and just under their head.Put their Left leg up in an upside-down V position,with the foot tucked under the other leg.Then hold on to that leg,and bring it towards you.Untuck the leg and put it straight again.Tip the head slightly back,and you're done.

This is to stop them from puking and then swallowing again.



I hope you learned a bit.CPR is a usevul technique in later life,so use it wisely.
