A few days ago, a friend of mine told me to watch some documentary about drastic changes in society and how the youth behaves, so I rented it and watched it. The clerk at the video store said something about one of movies having the wrong label, but whatever, I'm sure I didn't get that one.

When I got home and watched the documentary I was absolutely shocked. The things I saw in this documentary were incredible and revealed a side of history to me I'd never even dreamed existed.

Apparently, in the 50s or so EVERYONE knew how to sing and dance, spontaneously break into song, and improvise lyrics and choreography in unison. Some people even popped up out of nowhere just to join in on the song and disappeared afterward. I've never seen anything like that happen at any of the schools I've attended. It's astounding.

What's more is they also must have had special powers that allowed them to move around their surroundings and conjure up objects from outside of the camera's vision using their spontaneous song and dance because every time someone sang the stuff around them started moving around all by itself without anyone ever touching them. It was almost as if the people in the documentary were on some sort of movie set.

People back then were also way more dramatic and dangerous than today. Guys would challenge each other to drag races with tricked out cars with blades on the wheels just because they didnt like each other. Prom was a crazy dance competition where girls would get tossed and thrown about by their dates without regard for safety whatsoever. They even drove off into the sunset at the very end. I guess that's real life inspiration for some movies.

A problem I saw was people seemed to have serious learning trouble, because all the high schoolers looked 30-40 years old. One transfer student looked almost 50.

This just goes to show how the past can surprise you. I don't remember the name of the documentary, but it opened with a song about Grease.
