Ello fellow Painters. This is my first review, wish me luck!

DC Universe Online is a free-to-play open-world MMO in which you create a superhuman and fight for good or evil. The plot is OK, while the game itself is pretty addicting. The biggest downside? The download. This download took me 16 hours. If you close out the download, fortunately, you can pick up where you left off. Strangely, this game doesn't take up much memory. I recommend leaving it on while going to school or work. The plot is confusing, but the cutscenes are awesome. The game starts out with the best scene ever, an all out hero/villain war. Then an evil alien, Braniac comes and messes up everyone's fun by taking over the planet. A time traveling Lex Luthor saves the world by giving everyone superpowers. Braniac is temporarily weakened and he needs a strong superhuman life-force to continue his invastion. He chooses you.

Character Creation: 9/10
The character creation is very unique and I can assure you nobody's character will be the same. First, you choose a gender, then a build. Super Burly, Average, or Small. This doesn't affect anything but appearance. DCUO lets you pick between Hero or Villain. I don't like this because your actions don't affect your morality. Then you choose a mentor, someone who will guide you through quests. After that, you choose some pretty sick powers and some awesome weapons. Then you customize your costume, race, and face, which takes 1-3 hours if you want to do it right. Unfortunately, your costume that you create has no stats, so you'll have to put actual armor over it, making it impossible to see what's underneath.

Graphics 8.5
The graphics are really cool, but the render distance is low. Meaning the L on LexCorps sign ends up looking like a P from a distance, but you won't encounter these problems with Super-Speed and Acrobatics. Lag is abundant if you have a computer made before 09. But you can get used to it. I kid you not. I'm not sure if it's just my 2008 Vista either. Oh, and if you want to get used to lag, try to predict where your mouse will be and click early.

Sound 6
The music really sucks in this game. It doesn't make you feel heroic or villainous. The music doesn't change while fighting, either. The reason this has a 6 is that, the nightclubs, which act as safehouses, have some pretty neat music. Also, if you choose Circe as a mentor, all you'll hear is, "Trigon, Trigon, TRIGONNNNNNNNNNNN!" And the voice acting is awesome. The Joker is played by Mark Hamill, and Batman is played by the Batman in the original series.

Controls 7
The controls are really hard to get used to, like Kid Icarus Uprising, but once you can get used to it, its like riding a bike. Powers are used with hotkeys, 1, 2, 3, etc. Skills, though, are different. Kicks, Arrow Storms, Cross-Slashes, feats that don't require powers, are used with morse code. Well.. Not really. An arrow is a right click. An arrow melee attack is a left. But a kick is left click left hold. Or Left click right click hold left click. Skills are used with a combination of clicks and holds, you must memorize these to be successful. Also, try not to panic and buttonmash. Your energy will get depleted. Stay calm, remember your combos, strike like a snake, dodge, attack again.

The MMO Experience 8.5
You will never play MMOs the same after this. The game hosts Events every hour or so that are really fun. Diamond Heist is a PVP event in which villains try to steal diamonds while heroes attempt to stop them. I love the feel of just flying around and seeing scenery.. until I get attacked. I'm a level 7, and usually, I get randomly attacked by level 30 Heroes (I'm a villain) who just feel like killing me. But if you stay close to your nightclub, chances are, heroes are to afraid to go near you, because you'll call for backup near the spawn.

This game is very addicting, but the render distance, the plot, the installation, and the sound are unsatisfactory. Don't get me wrong. It's a good game! Download it! If you're looking for a long-term game that will keep you playing, download this.
