Trolology is the scientific and mathematical analysis of trolls on the internet. There are numerous problems related such as mathematically defining a troll. This has never been sucessfully done before although numerous scientists and mathematicians have tried.
I myself deal with mathematical analysis and I have a doctoral degree in trolology. The important jargon that is needed to understand analysis will be listed below:
*Calculus - a spectrum which is based on how related the argument is to a topic
*Differentiation - the troll goes off on a tangent with his argument
*Integration - The troll follows the curve of the topic and lies under it
One way we can analyse a troll is by placing a troll as a function and his argument as an argument of the function. The result allows us to plot a controversy-time graph with respect to his argument. Where controversy is a vector. This is how mathematical analysis helps.
Suppose a troll's argument leads to the exponential function e^x. X is how the troll's argument affects base e. Along this curve are an infinite amount of tangents. This is where a troll differentiates. As controversy increases, the gradient of each tangent increases. This means that the troll increasingly goes off-topic over time.
Now, the area under the curve is where the troll integrates with the topic. So as controversy increases, the integration also increases. This creates a paradox. The aforementioned paradox is a criticism of this mathematical model. But it works when explaining it to lay men i.e. you the reader.
This paradox is called the Einstein-Planck Paradox since they discovered it whilst working on another mind-boggling theory (which became known as quantum mechanics).
The scientific analysis is very narrow. Although there are still some complicated problems such as the Feynmann Map. This is a hypothetical map of a troll's moves. The hypothesis is that the map would have to be fourth-dimensional. This is very confusing and has kept the scientific area occupied.
One of the most fundemental ideas however was an attempt to explain the Einstein-Planck Paradox. If the idea was proven, it would open up new areas in trolology. It explained how a troll could both integrate and differentiate at the same time by unifying them as opposites. This would allow a troll to undo a derivative with an integral or vice-versa. Unfortunatley, nobody could prove or disprove it.
I hope this blog fascinated you and makes you become a trololologist!
