A longsword is a warrior's most precious weapon. For a longsword never leaves them as a boy. They can't handle their longswords as children but can as men. Men, who are very adept at wielding their longswords.

Children start off with daggers and only learn basic fighting techniques as a teenager. This usually involves learning how to sheathe and unsheath one's dagger before learning how to thrust it. Before that, they have to polish other men's longswords.

When they become adolescents, they learn more advanced fighting techniques. They also learn how to penetrate other people's defences with a sword. They may then be sent into their first battle. Some never experience this battle if they aren't adept with their swords.

They are then gifted with a longsword which can easily penetrate shields. It is also a symbol of being a proper man. People who receive longswords recieve a special ceremony.

Services For Longswords

There are special services for your longswords. These include lengthening, strengthening and enchanting. Various enchantments are available including fire; for those who wish to spice up their fighting techniques. There is also a poison enchantment which makes your longsword even more dangerous.

How Dueling Works

Each man has a shield and a longsword (real men carry their swords with one hand). They thrust their swords at the shields and attempt to penetrate. If they achieve this then the other man is said to have lost. Depending on the skill of each fighter, respect can increase or decrease after each fight. It is better to challenge skilled fighters because respect increases either way. Of course, some may call you an idiot afterwards.

Now remember, it's not the length of your sword that's important, it's about pure skill. Only joking! Of course length is important!
