It started as a little joke,
coming to be out of hand!
Soon it became a far-known lie.
Something tells me that
nobody's going to take a stand.
I looked at everyone
deciding that I liked it too
because it was in demand!

It's like a sweet candy
everyone wants more as it spreads.
And within a few weeks, that lie
has about fifty variations!
The girl sat and hid her tears
but honestly, since they find it funny
why should I help her situation?

Today on the news,
"A girl killed herself,"
Still though, people are laughing.
The people take what they demand,
and sooner or later we've got
a rumor going again!
It's never true, but we never do anything
quite new!
Isn't a shame that they're caught in
a web of deceit?
But isn't it tragic that
I am too?

Today in my classes there seemed to be stares.
Sooner or later I learn that
they've spread something about me, too.
It's just ridiculous, I know;
