"Enough! I'll give you to the count of three to comply."
Izen lightly stressed the trigger on the gun. The lord grabbed his hand and disarmed the gun from him.
"I will have order! I'm not about to lose everything other's have worked for."
Izen flipped out a knife and plunged it into the side of Viran's neck.
"Rest in peace. You shouldn't have been so stubborn."
Lord Viran slumped forward in his chair as blood ran down his neck. Izen pulled the knife out and picked up his gun lying on the step. The exit wasn't far away. He walked towards the doorway and saw Brandt standing in his way. The immediate reaction caused him to raise his gun.
"Move or get shot."
Brandt lowered his gun and walked towards Izen.
"Hold on soldier. Don't shoot. I need to talk to you."
"I don't have time to talk to the likes of you."
"I know, I know, but hear me out. I know where Don is, plus, it's the least I can do for you freeing the town."
"Why should I trust you?"
"I was blackmailed. I was being watched at all times. I'm certain you know how that feels."
Izen lowered his gun and walked past the man, without a care in the world. Brandt stood puzzled and ran after him.
"Wait up. I thought you needed help."
Izen looked over his shoulder, sighed, and continued walking down the hallway.
"Stop following me. I'll find him on my own."
"I'm not bad. I could join you."
Izen turned and pushed Brandt up against the wall, gripping to small pockets of the man's clothing.
"I don't want your help! I don't need a straggling body with me."
"Fine. I won't follow, but Don is at the Cantina. He goes for a drink or two about this time."
"Yeah, thanks."
Izen backed off of Brandt and continued down the hallway. Brandt brushed himself down and watched his attacker leave.
Izen left through the entrance of the building and walked off down the winding path that seemed to form in his mind. It wasn't quite clear since he was dragged up by soldiers.
