Sigh.
The last time had gotten me in so much trouble. See, my mother being who she was, didn't like bad publicity. So, obviously her teenage daughter running away with a young boy, was bad publicity. And being found in the predicament I was found in? yeah, not good for Ms. Lee Monroe. He was worth it, though. Damian Stark. The most beautiful boy I had ever seen. How I miss him...
Shall I take you back to that incident before I get to school? Alright. It was August 2010, school was already out for the summer. I was at the local mall with friends, shopping for my weekly clothes, when I saw him. Black hair. Piercing blue eyes. And a body that would make Hercules jealous. And he was staring at me. I flashed my million dollar smile. Literally. My mother nearly paid a million in dental work for me. God forbid, I start smoking or something. Anyways! He smiled back, perfect white teeth gleaming in the fluorescent lighting. My friends noticed the boy looking at me. I shyly looked away and back at my friend Leti.
"Girl, what are you doing? He's totally digging on you!" She giggled. Her auburn curls bouncing. Leti was my best friend. She understood what I went through on an everyday basis. Her parents were famous as well. Entrepreneurs. She didn't care. I looked back at the boy. Curious. Did he know who I was? My mind wandered, I let it. Could this boy show me what I never got? Love. Compassion. I wanted to know. "Abi!" I snapped out of it, at the sound of Leti's voice. He was still staring at me and smiling. Now was my chance. Whether I wanted it to be or not. Because, at that moment, Leti pushed me in his direction. I looked back at her with a "I'm going to hurt you" look. I approached him, my heartbeat thumping in my eardrums.
"Hello there, gorgeous", he smiled, extending his hand. I grasped it firmly and shook. "Hello, yourself". He squeezed slightly, before releasing my hand. I looked down at his smooth fingers as they left mine. I didn't want that touch to end. That was how I first met Damian Stark. The average boy that changed my life. Of course, my mother forbid it. He was a "commoner" to her, and not worthy of time with her daughter. I didn't care. He showed me something I never had. Love.
After that day, Damian and I were inseparable. Every night I would sneak out of our estate to see him. Something I could never do during the daytime. Not because of school, I could care less about that. No. Because of our flock of paparazzi stalking us during every hour of sunshine. I couldn't leave without an escort. I always liked babysitters, don't you? Anyways, back to the story...
Every night he always made me feel so special. Movies. Dinner at his family's restaurant. Star-gazing in the moonlight. You know, SOMETHING. And he never tried anything. Usually guys his age are all about sex. Not him. He didn't even kiss me on the lips yet! He was the perfect gentleman... He truly was...
Then one night while we were laying on the hood of his Firebird, my head resting in his lap. Stars twinkling overhead, my eyes closed as he kissed me on the forehead. I looked up at him and smiled. "What is it?" I questioned. "You're just so beautiful." He said as he moved a strand of my hair behind my ear. "I want to give you something." He smiled, reaching into his pocket and producing a box. My eyes lit up, as I rose to sit on my knees on the hood, facing him.
"Damian... You shouldn't have.." I looked from the box to his face. He smiled, and made eye contact with me. Those blue eyes glowed in the moonlight. "It didn't cost me anything. It was something I inherited.. My mother told me that when I found a girl to give it to, that I could. That girl is you." He opened the box, and I gasped. This ring... Was beautiful. It was a princess cut Emerald ring surrounded by diamonds. It looked extremely old. Antique. Like costume jewelry. But it wasn't. I knew stones. I knew how to spot a fake, and this was not. I looked at him, my eyes filling with tears as he slid it onto my finger. "Damian..."
He smiled, "I want to marry you, Abigail. I know we are young, and you're mom is all famous and junk, but I want you. We could run away from here... Together. I think-" I placed my finger over his lips to silence him. "Yes. Yes!" I cried. My heart overflowed with emotion as he took me into his arms and kissed me. Finally! His lips were so soft, and tender. His tongue was hot against mine, tasting of the recently consumed chocolates. We broke our heated moment and stared at each other. "We have to go back to my house. I need to grab my credit card and some clothes." He nodded.
We piled back into his car and headed for my house. My hand was underneath his on the shifter, our fingers interlaced. I loved this man. I was going to marry him. Abigail Stark. "I like that," I thought as I smiled to myself. We pulled up next to the fence at the back of my property. There was a gap in the fence that I could fit through. I kissed Damian, as my body was halfway through. Just then, FLASH! A paparazzi, who had been camping outside, took our picture. I gasped and tried to compose my eyesight, as the photographer took off running. He had his story... "Lee Monroe's Daughter Caught!"... Fantastic. I looked at Damian. "Wait here, I'll get my stuff." He nodded and kissed me again, before I disappeared behind the brush.
I ran to the house, sneaking passed the security cameras that riddled my walls, moving silently. Good thing I didn't have any dogs, for I'm sure they would be barking by now and blowing my cover. Unlocking the back door, I ducked inside. I ran up to my room and pulled my backpack out. I dumped all of my books onto my bed... Wouldn't be needing these anymore. Looking around my room, I noticed my purse by the window. I grabbed that. Then, packed a pair of sneakers and a set of clothes for the next day. Doing a once over, to check to make sure I had everything, I made my way back down the stairs. I looked around, and saw no one. Out the back door I went. I ran over to the brush and found the hole. Damian's eyes looked through nervously. I smiled to reassure him, and slid my backpack through the hole. Just as I was about to squeeze through, a strong hand gripped my shoulder. I turned to look into the eyes of our biggest bodyguard, Kevin. I screamed.
"NO! Let go of me!" Kevin began pulling me back from the hole. "Damian!" I yelled, struggling to break free from his grip. At which point, Kevin picked me up and slung me over his shoulder. I began to pummel his back with my fists as Damian pushed his way through the hole and jumped on Kevin. I fell to the ground, watching these two men fight. I started to jump in, when I was pulled back from the fight by my mother. The quarrel outside successfully woke up everyone in the house. Blinded by tears I screamed for Damian. He turned towards me, as a punch from Kevin landed on his jaw. Damian was down. Not moving. I pushed my mother away and ran to him. Damian was unconscious, but breathing steadily. Blood poured from a cut above his eye. I kissed him on the lips, my tears dropping onto his face. I was yanked back by my mother. "Abigail! You're in so much trouble young lady! Get in the house!" I looked up at her, fire in my eyes. "No! I want him!" I scrambled to my feet and went for him again. Kevin stepped in and grabbed me, taking me to the house. My mother turned towards our other guards, "Dispose of him. I don't want to see him ever again." I knew what that meant. "No, mom! No!" My screams echoed. Soft moans could be heard from Damian's lips. He was waking up. "Run, Damian! Run!" I cried. But it was too late. The other guards grabbed him and began in the opposite direction. I struggled, but my strength was gone... I heard my name, softly, coming from Damian. "Abigail..."
That was the last thing I heard before the door closed behind me.
