There are some pretty strange characters in Mario games, from a talking concrete slab to a pink dinosaur-like creature that spits eggs.
But do you know who else is weird? Yes, Waffle King. But that's not what this blog is about. This is about the tall dude in purple who is mostly present in Mario spinoff games such as sports or parties.
Waluigi, first appearing on the Nintendo 64, was originally created for Mario Tennis as a rival to Luigi. He became a common character quickly, partnering with Wario, but he has yet to appear in either a Mario or Wario platformer.
He's pretty annoying, possibly more so than Wario. While he seems comparatively normal compared to some of the Mario universe characters, he is also quite strange and even creepy.
In his first appearance in Mario Tennis, he had flashing purple eyes. He still has creepy shining eyes in Mario Tennis Open, but now they shine white instead of purple. He looks evil and most certainly is. His mysterious powers in games like Mario Strikers Charged allows him to create a dark vine-like wall trailing him.
Many fans were upset about his lack of being in Mario Kart 7, even though his course, Waluigi Pinball, is present. I personally don't mind his absence, since I'm not a big fan of him.
Although he's not my favorite, there are apparently a lot of people who like him. What are your thoughts on Waluigi?
