Panorama View is a collection of videos at various locales that can be panned in all directions (except where the camera mount was), using the gyroscopic sensor of the Wii U GamePad. Since the videos are pre-recorded, direct interaction with them is not possible. The player is more meant to explore the unfolding scene, to find Easter eggs (like Nessie swimming in the Thames River of London), to see the tranquil surroundings (like in the hang-gliding), learn of the landscape (like in Kyoto's older regions), or to take in the actions (like at the carnival). In addition to panning in all directions, the player can zoom, swap the view on the TV, and jump between video segments on the playline.
There are currently 5 apps in the collection of Panorama View, with the full ones weighing on at around half a gigabyte each. Nintendo kept the prices low for the collection, keeping them in impulse buy territory, and collectively under the minimum eShop credit card deposit.
Trailer (FREE) This is the only free app in the group. It is meant to give a taste of a mechanics beyond the paid apps. Tere are samples of clips from each of the others and a brief tutorial of how to use them.
Aerial View ($2.00) Much of this app takes place in the air, on a specially-equipped hang-glider. For each of these scenes, the pilot is a companion, either to the left or right. The player sees the sights from the other end of the hang-glider's wing. Various birds or ducks match the hang-glider's speed through a good amount of the video. As the clips progress through a day, they end with a boat ride, through a harbor.
Carnival in Rio de Janeiro ($2.00) This app jumps between places of action at Carnival, during the major parade. Scenes include parade floats, scantly clad dancers, musicians, marchers, etc. The performers in the parade frequently wave and smile at the camera, which makes brings the player more into the action.
Tour of Kyoto ($2.00) This app begins with a tour guide introducing himself to the player and a geisha companion, then leading both to step into his rickshaw for the tour. He drives the rickshaw through some older parts of town, where the geisha eventually disembarks. A solo ride continues for a few moments, with him describing the sights. A young Japanese lady joins the tour, and the rickshaw continues through the outskirts of town, through the woods, where the cherry trees are blossoming. The tour eventually goes on-foot, through a traditional Japanese garden.
Tour of London ($2.00) The entirety of this app consists of various double-decker buses, passing near major landmarks in London, like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, etc. some of the segments include a man announcing the sights from a seat near the camera. The scenes start during the day and progress through night. The finale is a big cheer by the other passengers.
