OK, so some of you may not know this and some of you may know it already, but this may give you a reason to get off your butts and get outside. Not that it's a bad thing.
There's a game called Ingress, and it is an app for Android devices. I'm not sure if they are coming out with an Apple version of the app, but I will keep an eye out for updates. Anyways, I'm trying not to get off subject here.
Ingress is a alternate-reality (Is that how you phrase it?) game. It uses GPS tracking (And Google Maps, I believe.) and a "scanner" (Which is the app.). On the scanner, you have a variety of tools. In the center of the screen is a pointer that is either green or blue, depending on the faction you choose when you first activate it.
The factions are Enlightened (Green) and Resistance (Blue). They are both technically the same, but their stories aren't.
There is a group called the Shapers, who aim to take over the world, like any good villain society. The Enlightened are allied with the Shapers and they aim to help spread the "good will" of the Shapers. Whereas the Resistance is trying to defend the human race and beat back the Shapers and their "enlightment."
To try and spread it farther, the Shapers have placed portals on key landmarks, such as libraries, monuments and fire stations, and they have equipped the Enlightened with weapons to take over these portals. The Resistance happened to get a hold of this tech as well and so the battle begins, each side striving to control the influence of the Shapers.
So pick your side, Enlightened or Resistance, and join the fight.
